I was just wondering if you find that you are able to maintain your “New Zealand zest” in Duke’s social atmosphere. Do you find that you are able to bring a little kiwi into your everyday life?

Great question! Like a lot of international students, I find the U.S. culture a lot of fun and quite different to New Zealand. I met a lot of really nice people when I arrived that showed me the ropes and since then I’ve made lifelong friends. I always try to share a bit of New Zealand with the people I meet and people seem to think it hilarious that I use words like “reckon” and “heaps”. I am a proud kiwi!!
