I would love to know how research works as an undergraduate. Can anyone share their experience?
Hi! I’ve been working in a bioengineering lab at Harvard for about 2 years now, and overall, it has been a great experience. Generally, to get involved in research, all you need to do is email a professor who’s lab you’re interested explaining why you’d like to work there with your resume attached. If the professor has any projects available or any grad students or postdocs who are available as mentors, they will respond. I work in close contact with a grad student, who taught me the basics of lab work and equipment, and now I am working on an independent senior engineering design project as part of my Bachelor’s degree. The most important thing to remember is that if you’re interested in research, there’s always a way to get involved and learn a ton!
