Is it easier to get into Harvard/Stanford for undergrad, or for an MBA? Business schools tend to have higher acceptance rates, but I’m assuming the pool is a lot stronger as well?
Follow up: If you go to a school for undergrad, does it mean you have an advantage at that school for postgrad/MBA?
For undergraduate, Stanford is slightly more difficult than Harvard to gain acceptance (4.6% vs 5.2%).
For MBA, Stanford is significantly more difficult to gain acceptance to (6.1% vs 12% acceptance rate).
There is of course the argument that they’re looking for slightly different people, hence for some one is more difficult than the other, but I don’t have statistics to back this up!
I’m unsure as to what effect undergrad has on postgrad acceptance chances. Attending a top-tier school will undoubtably give your application more credibility, but between top tier schools I’m unsure.
