How many times can I re-take the SAT?
I usually advise students to not take the SAT more than three times if possible under normal circumstances. While Collegeboard’s Score Choice allows students to take the SAT as many times as they want, not every school participates in the Score Choice program.
Most students will probably have reached their maximum potential by the third try after serious preparation. Also, remember that each retake is mentally and physically exhausting; it would be much more productive to focus on other parts of the application after the first few attempts.
