Students come from a range of places - the lower North Island, and upper South Island, especially Nelson - as Victoria is the closest university for a lot of these places, as well as people moving out of home to Wellington from Auckland or anywhere in New Zealand really. Internationally, there are students from all over, however I don’t think that social groups are particularly distinct because of this. University is a fresh start for everyone, meaning that everyone you meet will be open to expanding their social circle as well.
