What is it like to study PPE in Yale-NUS?
From my perspective, PPE major incorporates the concept of liberal arts education. It is an amazing specialisation, and, luckily, there is strong PPE faculty in Yale-NUS. However, the biggest issue is inherent to the discipline itself. Ideally, PPE student should have the balance of breadth and depth in his/her knowledge. It might be quite tough to reach this goal. Firstly, the number of offered courses is limited, due to the small size of the school. Secondly, a student should have a “wise” selection of modules for every semester. It is essential to interconnect all the knowledge from the courses, otherwise they are useless. Finally, it might be necessary for a student to prioritise PPE courses over other interesting modules before declaring major. The field is broad and requires more knowledge than others. These are three main concerns about studying PPE in Yale-NUS. Nonetheless, I would strongly recommend considering PPE as a major.
