I hear from current UCT students that sports aren’t taken serioisly at UCT? Is this true and why?
How seriously sports is taken at UCT usually depends on how invested you are in the activity. If you are interested in a more competitive level of sport, there are a variety of opportunities to participate and compete in sports for the university such as hockey, netball, rugby, football, swimming or rowing with coaches who take their job seriously.
However, many people also enjoy playing for the residences which is sometimes more low-key depending on the sport but also a fun way to meet new people. In addition to this, numerous societies offer exercise activities ranging from archery and scuba diving to hiking and ultimate frisbee.
