What are the requirements to get into engineering?

The requirements to get into engineering at UCT differ depending on the branch of engineering. UCT offers the following engineering degrees: civil, geomatics, mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering.

Your admission into programs at UCT is based on your FPS(Faculty Point Score), you can go onto the UCT website to found out how to calculate your FPS.

The minimum requirements are as follows: Civil (60 FPS and Intermediate scores for NBTs, ), Electrical (65 FPS and Intermediate scores for NBTs ), Electrical and Computer Science (65 FPS and Intermediate scores for NBTs) Mechatronics (65 FPS and Intermediate scores for NBTs), Chemical ( 65 FPS and Intermediate scores for NBTs), Mechanical (65 FPS and Intermediate Scores for NBTs)

To ensure admission, make sure that your FPS is above 75 for civil and geomatics and 80 for the other engineering programs, and that all your NBT( QL, AL and MATH) scores are proficient.
