Are campus rules strict?
I would say that they are strict, but if a student does something foolhardy which does not actually harm other people (for instance, smoking on campus) and gets caught, in most cases, they will get off with just a warning. People here aren’t intending to catch and punish students deliberately. Instead, they are more than willing to help you understand that you are doing something wrong.
They are definitely more strict than in American or Canadian universities. Certain cultural aspects of life in Singapore make you more scared of doing illegal things, such as smoking weed, which is a fairly common activity in American universities. Undoubtedly, such aspects of life make students more disciplined and willing to obey the laws.
